The process of finalization is crucial for ensuring the outstanding quality and unique characteristics of each Duke guitar. With each of these steps, we all Duke Guitars their distinctive sound and excellent playability. Our finalization process in Tübingen is the key to guitars that are both sonically and aesthetically outstanding. Our dedicated team of luthiers in Tübingen devotes themselves with dedication and care to refining each individual guitar. The finalization process includes the following important steps:
We give our instruments the time they need. To optimally adapt them to the climatic conditions in Europe, each Duke is given time to rest in the climate-controlled warehouse. And only when this process is completed the guitar goes into the finalization process.
Before the first craft steps, each guitar undergoes a check in which it must meet defined structural, sound, and visual criteria.
The fretboard and frets are leveled and polished to ensure a smooth contact between the fingers and the strings. By leveling the frets, we ensure reliable playability across the entire fretboard.
The bridge insert is finely tuned to allow optimal transmission of string vibrations to the guitar body, thus optimizing the tone quality.
We adjust the bone saddle precisely to ensure the optimal string action and intonation. This is a critical step that affects the playing feel and tuning stability.
Now new strings are wind up and a certain string action is set up, which ensures optimal playability.
The pickup is also installed by us in Tübingen to ensure flawless operation.
In addition to the revision, the instruments are inspected by our guitar makers in Tübingen to ensure their flawless visual condition. The Duke Acoustics guitars mostly feature a high-gloss finish, which is intended to remain 100% pristine. Therefore, the guitars are polished once more to arrive flawlessly in retail and at your homes.
In the last step, the guitar is inspected structurally, sonically, and visually before it is delivered to one of our Duke partners.
